    The many side character POVs got to be a bore, but the author handled the presentation of the main character in those portions well enough, so it didn’t bug me much more than that. I found the story and world-building pretty fascinating, though pretty damn feeble. The main character having abrupt---even if momentary---mildness was something else that I found unpleasant, how the way it was constructed felt forced
